Teh Narrative! It’s what’s for dinner!

“In response to the assertion that Blacks are “systematically targeted for demise,” every recent compilation of crime statistics in the United States shows this statement to be categorically false (Canada has no comparable robust reporting on race-specific crime statistics). In fact, per the 2018 US National Crime Victimization Survey, the only group of people systematically killing Black people are other Black people and overwhelmingly so. The Bureau of Justice Statistics also reports that “the offender was of the same race or ethnicity as the victim in 70 per cent of violent incidents involving Black victims.” This directly confronts assertions, especially by celebrities and politicians, that Black people are “literally hunted,” as Lebron James put it.”

And the party…

…matters less and less as both sides engage in tit-for-tat manuevering for political advantage, suffering the usual disease of politicians, i.e., misidentifying their personal wants and needs and desires as being what the public wants, needs, and desires.  A lot less overlap in those Venns, especially as time-in-office grows.

“Political polarization is a great political problem of our time. While it has many sources, one important cause is the deformation of our governmental structure. That structure once required consensus to enact important policy changes. Now the President can adopt such changes unilaterally.”

Harry and Meghan and Oprah, Oh my!

“That’s why with as much as it’s dominated the headlines recently, I remained spectacularly incapable of locating even the slightest shred of interest in the most recent Harry and Meghan drama – particularly when I found out it was being arbitrated by Oprah Winfrey.

Three exceedingly, no, absurdly wealthy people sitting in splendor as they discuss how oppressed and mistreated they are? Sorry, but the list of things I wouldn’t rather be doing than watching that was registering somewhere in the neighborhood of absolute zero.”

We take our social distancing seriously here at the Castle.

We also got our first stick with the Moderna vaccine, courtesy of the VA.    No, we don’t believe all the hype, and our professional experience with pandemic response planning differs greatly from the approach taken, but, we’re not stupid, either.
But we were early adopters of social distancing.  As in about 2007, when we moved from downtown to farm-in-the-sticks.
